Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP57: Guided Radar for High Silos and Demanding Bulk Solids
Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP57: Guided Radar for High Silos and Demanding Bulk Solids

For the highest demands in bulk-solids measurement
The Endress+Hauser Levelflex FMP57 is a guided-wave radar transmitter for continuous level measurement in powdery to granular bulk solids. With rod and rope probes, including rope lengths up to 45 m, it is engineered for high silos, bunkers, stockpiles and demanding industrial storage applications.
FMP57 is designed to maintain reliable measurement in dusty atmospheres, tall vessels and installations containing obstacles. Dust, filling noise, temperature layers and gas layers do not directly affect the guided radar measuring principle, provided the probe and installation are correctly selected.
Why Choose the Levelflex FMP57?
Rope probes extend to 45 m for high silos, bunkers and large stockpile installations.
Suitable for dusty atmospheres and vessels where filling noise or internal obstacles complicate measurement.
Rod or rope probes, threaded or flanged connections, HistoROM and optional Bluetooth support demanding installations.
How Guided Wave Radar Works in Solids
High-frequency radar pulses travel down the rope probe. When they reach the product surface, part of the signal is reflected to the transmitter. The measured travel time is converted into level. Because the energy is guided by the probe, the instrument can work reliably even when airborne dust or filling noise would challenge some non-contact measurement methods.

Specifications, approvals and material options depend on the selected order code. Confirm the current manufacturer documentation and installation conditions before ordering.
Typical Applications
- Powder storage silos
- Granular raw-material bins
- High silos and tall storage vessels
- Dusty filling and emptying processes
- Food ingredients, minerals, plastics and construction materials
- Bunkers, stockpiles and demanding bulk-solids inventory measurement
Installation Considerations
For best performance, place the probe away from the filling stream, internal ladders and structural members. Confirm the expected tensile load on the rope probe, especially where heavy solids, material movement or bridging may occur. The nozzle, roof structure, outlet geometry and anchoring method should be reviewed together with the maximum and minimum product levels.
FMP56 or FMP57?
| Model | Primary selection focus |
|---|---|
| Levelflex FMP56 | Economical base model for common bulk-solids applications and light-duty process conditions. |
| Levelflex FMP57 | Highest-demand bulk-solids duties, high silos, bunkers, stockpiles and measuring ranges up to 45 m. |
Information Needed for Correct Selection
- Material name, bulk density, particle size and dielectric constant
- Silo height, diameter, roof and outlet geometry
- Maximum measuring range and required dead-zone clearance
- Filling point, internal obstacles and expected dust level
- Estimated rope tensile load and whether anchoring is required
- Temperature, pressure, hazardous-area and communication requirements
